MTU Aero Engines traces its formal establishment to BMW Flugmotorenbau, divested by BMW in Munich in December 1934, and remains based at the Munich-Allach site. It is a partner in the EJ200 engine for the Eurofighter Typhoon through the EUROJET consortium with Rolls-Royce, Avio Aero and ITP Aero, and in the TP400-D6 for the A400M through the Europrop International joint venture, acting as industrial lead for military engines for the German Armed Forces. Group revenue reached a record 8.7 billion euros in 2025, up 16 percent on the prior year.
