Space systems group and prime contractor for German radar reconnaissance satellites.
OHB was founded in Bremen in 1958 as a small ship-systems company and grew into a European space and technology group after Christa and Manfred Fuchs took over in the 1980s. Through OHB System it is prime contractor for the Bundeswehr's SARah satellite-based radar reconnaissance system, awarded by the federal procurement office BAAINBw as the successor to SAR-Lupe. The group develops complete space systems alongside aerospace structures and satellite operations services and employed about 3,600 people in 2025.
