secunet Security Networks was founded in Essen in 1997 and describes itself as Germany's leading cybersecurity company and IT security partner of the Federal Republic of Germany. It develops the SINA family of cryptographic systems that form the basis of Germany's classified government networks, with divisions spanning defence and space, homeland security, public authorities and critical infrastructures. Revenue reached about 459 million euros in 2025 and the company employs more than 1,300 people.
