Secure multi-orbit military satellite communications for governments and armed forces.
SES was founded in 1985 as Societe Europeenne des Satellites with the backing of the Luxembourg state, which remains a major shareholder, and is headquartered at Chateau de Betzdorf. It operates a multi-orbit fleet of geostationary and O3b mPOWER medium Earth orbit satellites. Its defence business spans SES Space & Defense, which serves the US Government, and GovSat, a joint venture with the Luxembourg government whose GovSat-1 satellite provides anti-jamming X-band and Ka-band communications for defence users. SES completed its acquisition of Intelsat in July 2025.
